Birds fly through the air around us. Fish fly through the water around them. Imagine how empty the sky would seem without flocking birds. how deserted the seas would be without fish. This class is a self-paced exploration of the potter’s wheel from the basics and beyond. Take a lump of clay and learn to center, stretch and manipulate until a pot emerges. Explore decorating and glazing techniques to create pottery to keep and to share. Repeated sessions will expand your skills. Bring an old towel and be prepared to play in the mud!

TDY123 Beginning Sculpture

Get down, dirty, and 3-dimensional using a variety of mediums including clay, plaster, papier-mache, and wire. This is an introduction to the basic elements of 3-D design using both additive and subtractive processes with emphasis on form, line, texture and light. Instruction is geared to your ability, and introduces you to professional sculpture methods, tools, and techniques.
