Intaglio Printmaking with David Hunter

Saturday & Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Students will learn the following techniques: Basic line
etching, Aquatint, Softground etching, Single intaglio inking
and printing. Addtional inking/printing techniques: a la poupé,
multiple intaglio, single intaglio with surface roll (ink of a
different color), chine collé. Each student will create their
own print to be taken home.
All materials and two etching
presses provided.
A native of central Florida, David Hunter holds a B.A. and M.A.
in zoology from the University of South Florida. David has participated in
art shows from Miami to Michigan, and shows his work in
galleries in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina, and
Massachusetts.

Surfaces for a More Painterly Approach to Collage
Explore new, fun and innovative approaches to collage using
acrylic mediums. Try new surfaces. Learn to create a multitude
of surfaces with acrylic gels and grounds that can enhance the
collage process. Explore grounds for washes, glazes, texture and
layering, for drawing and painting and applying images.
Sunday: Image
Transfers and Gel Skin Techniques
for Collage
Mixed Media artist, K.D. Tobin shares his experience with
collage in this fun and informative class. This workshop will
cover different, simple ways to use transfers for collage,
including laser, ink-jet and transparent “decal” skins.
Participants will create some very unique papers with acrylic,
which can be used to add new dimension to your collage works.
Suitable for all levels and all Golden Artist Colors supplies
are included. Artists are encouraged to bring copies or
originals of elements they wish to incorporate into work created
in the workshop, such as images from magazines, old books, etc.
Also bring along a few favorite drawing elements such as
pastels, colored pencils, etc., and a brush or two are
suggested. Due to relevant drying times, some work will be
completed by participants in their home studios. Bring a bag
lunch, we will break
for a 30 to 45 minute lunch. Q & A during lunch and at the
conclusion of class.
K.D. Tobin is a
Florida Painter, Sculptor, Writer, Filmmaker, and instructor for
Golden Artist Colors. K.D. spent ten years painting and
exhibiting in the Los Angeles area before relocating to
Sarasota, Florida. Vivid colors and primitive forms spread
across often outsized canvasses are hallmarks of his work, which hangs in many private and corporate collections
throughout the United States and Europe.

How To Photograph 2D Art Work

In this workshop students will learn how to photograph 2-D art
work. Subjects such as lighting, White Balance selection and
alignment will be discussed. This workshop is for artists who
want to make better quality reproductions of their art work to
enter shows. Discussion will also include making digital files
suitable for the web. Students may use film or digital cameras.
Students should have a working knowledge of their camera. This
workshop is a must for any artist who is planning to submit
their work for galleries or art shows.
Rick Lang is the Director of Photography at Crealdé School of
Art for the past 13 years. Rick is well known for his
involvement in the artistic community in Central Florida as an
artist, curator and educator.

Photo Festival XVI: Day of Workshops

Photo Festival XVI gives students the opportunity to select
their choices of five one-hour workshops and presentations on a wide variety
of photographic subjects. In addition to the workshops Southern Photo
Technical Services will provide a free camera check-up and cleaning.
Photo Festival XVI is a fundraiser and all tuition will go to benefit the
Photography Department. Lunch is included with the price of the workshop.
Students are encouraged to bring a few prints for the Photo Sharing sessions
at the end of the workshop.

3-Day Painting Workshop:
Painting the Still Life
in Oil or Acrylic
with Terry Trambauer Norris

Friday to Sunday,
10:00 am - 5:00 pm daily

Members $250, Non-members $270
Learn classic methods and techniques for creating beautiful
still life paintings. Students will carry one painting through
three stages to completion, focusing on idea and composition on
day one, color on the second day, and day three is for
finishing. There will be plenty of individual attention , plus
demonstrations all three days, covering under-painting, glazing,
impasto, and more . Students may work in oils or acrylics, and
are encouraged to bring some of their own still life objects,
though there will be objects, fruit and flowers available at the
workshop. Students may, if they choose, bring paintings that
they have done outside of class for individual critique.
Suitable for intermediate to advanced levels. Limited to 10
students.

Terry Trambauer Norris has been a Senior Faculty Member at
Crealdé for seven years, and a teacher of visual art for
fifteen. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and
competitions across the United States, most recently appearing
in The 2007 Eastern Regional Exhibition of the Oil Painters of
America, in which the painting "Iron Pot with Onions" received
the Award of Excellence for Best Still Life.
