Central Florida's original ArtCamp provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of art-making as each young artist learns from real artists in real art studios. Camps are offered for young artists having completed kindergarten through 12th grade. Students are placed in one of four groups of up to 13 participants according to their completed grade level:
Kindergarten Through Grade 2:
One week of half-days filled with painting, sculpture and ceramic projects. Children must have completed kindergarten. Students take three classes a day in sculpture, clay art, painting, and drawing with a 10-minute break between each class.
$160 for Crealdé members, $180 non-members
Session 1: June 9 - 13, 9:00 to 11:45 a.m.
Session 2: June 9 - 13, or 1:00 to 3:45 p.m.
(Choose morning or afternoon sessions).
Grades 3 through 8:
Two-week sessions for grades 3 - 8 are whole days that include classes in painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics and sculpture. Camp meets Monday through Thursday only.
$370 for Crealdé members, $390 for non-members.
Session 4: June 16 - 19 and June 23 - 26, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Supervision provided until 5 p.m.
Session 5: June 30 - July 3 and July 7 - 10, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Supervision provided until 5 p.m.
Session 6: July 14 - 17 and July 21 - 24, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Supervision provided until 5 p.m.
Session 7: July 28 - 31 and August 4 - 7, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Supervision provided until 5 p.m.
Advanced Art Studio for High Schoolers:
Gives students the opportunity to concentrate on one medium exclusively for one week. The program is based on the nationally-recognized Advanced Placement Studio Art Program. Teens who have completed 8th grade and up are welcome to participate.
$210 for Crealdé members, $230 for non-members
All media are offered during Session 3: June 9 - 13, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily Monday - Friday.
Photography: Using Crealde's 35 mm cameras and our professional darkroom, explore ways to employ composition, light, balance, rhythm, and proportion to make interesting photographs. You develop and print your own negatives and discover alternative methods of photography.
Painting: Immerse yourself in acrylics and watercolor for a week as you learn paint handling and color mixing, as well as traditional and experimental approaches to painting.
Wheelthrowing: Use the potter's wheel to become skilled at centering the clay, opening and throwing small cylinders. Learn to trim, finish and decorate. Gain knowledge of glazes and how to fire your creations in the kiln to make them completed works of art.
