Class Description:
This class is designed for ay adults who are interested in working with papers.
Participants will be working with various fiber materials to make 2-D and 3-D
art. Sheets of paper, molding, paper collages, and reconstructing with machine
stitches will be learned in this class. Use of materials such as paper, yarn,
and all kinds of fiber materials will give participants the freedom of art
making. No prerequisite or experience is required for this class; just
imagination and a creative mind.

Many types of paper that can be used:
Computer paper (unprinted)
Newspaper (if you want a grayish colored paper)
Egg Cartons
Old Cards (for heavier paper)
Toilet paper
Paper bags
Non Waxed Boxes (pre-soaked in warm water)
Tissue Paper (for finer paper)
Napkins
Construction Paper
Supplies:
Sponge
Window Screening (mold)
Wood Frame (deckle) – old picture frame can be used too; 8 x 10 size photo frame
White felt or flannel fabric (larger than the frame)
Staples or Tacks (for tacking screen on frame)
Liquid Starch (optional)
Dye stuff (food color, natural dye)
Acryl Paint (paper sculpture)
Notes:
Wooden picture or art frames that snap together can be purchased at arts/crafts
stores
You may prefer to make a mold and deckle from old picture frames, embroidery
hoops, or other materials you may have on hand
For a quick, inexpensive solution, cut a metal screen and apply duct tape to the
edges. Use this mold alone, without a deckle
