Oil paints: Minimum

   Raw umber

   Titanium white

   Preferable to have a full range of colors for all but the first class

 

 

Palette

 

Linseed Oil

 

Turpentine or Mineral Spirits

 

Brushes:

At least one large and one small bristle, a blender brush, and a small sable (optional)

 

Vine Charcoal and Charcoal Pencil

 

Cotton Cloth and Paper Towels

 

Spray fixative (optional)

 

One or two canvasses or gessoed boards

Approximately 16” x 20” or any size that you re wanting to paint a finished portrait

 

Several photographs

Portrait painting possibilities (preferably the subject should be lighted using one main source of light, such as outdoors as one possibility, without the use of a flash or “frontal” lighting)
