Douglas Scott Bringle,
Associate Instructor, Ceramics

Doug
joined Crealdé's faculty in 2001.  Currently he teaches children's clay classes, art camp and offers an adult/child workshop at the end of each session.  He also organizes the Crealdé Spring and Holiday Art Sales, which allow faculty, alumni and advanced students the opportunity to show and sell their best work to the public.  He conducts Crealdé's children's workshops at special events like the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival and Arts Fest.  In addition, he co-curates Crealdé's annual Faculty Holiday Exhibition.

His clay work is handbuilt.  Doug is influenced by pre-Columbian forms, particularly Maya, Moche and Nazca.  He also admires the bold, graphic art of the peoples of the Northwest Coast.  For surface decorations, he often adds spots or stripes, similar to the repeating patterns found on fish, insects, shells and mammals.  His pieces are available at the Orlando Museum of Art Gift Shop and at Pot Luck Studios on Aloma Avenue in Winter Park, as well as at Crealdé's Selections shop in the campus office. His artwork is also part of the permanent collection of the Maitland Art Center.

Doug is a graduate of the University of Florida and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
