Buy a Tile to put in the wall for only $20!

You can be part of the mosaic project! From now until September, you can personalize tiles to become part of the Welcome Mosaic (…or until the tiles are all sold at $20 each). A limited number of leaf shaped tiles―under 200―are now available for you to personalize. Use our letter stamps and stamp in your name or short message, such as

“George was Here”    “Thanks for the fun! Nancy”      “I love art! Tom”      “Playing in mud is GOOD”      “Art Opens Doors -Sarah”

● Let your kids or grandkids create a design! Bring children to stamp their own tiles.

● You can trace their drawings if they live far away.

● You can also press your thumbprint into the clay―or your pet’s paw!

Once your personalized tiles are designed we will then fire it, glaze it a shade of green (for leaves) and include it in the Welcome Garden Mosaic. As long as you purchase and design your tile BEFORE September 2009, your artwork will be included in the wall. You do not have to be part of the installation for your tile to be placed in the design.

As part of a recent $110,652 Cultural Facilities grant from the Orange County Cultural Affairs Council, Crealdé is adding a new piece of artwork to the premises. Over 4 phases, the 34-year-old campus will receive much-needed renovations, including roofing, air conditioning, wall repair and new walkways. In August, the second phase of renovations will include the expansion of our beautiful landscaping into the front of the campus. In October, a large colorful mosaic mural celebrating the arts will be installed on Crealdé’s office wall facing this new garden.

$100 Members, $120 Non-Members; Limited to 12 students per day. Ask about single day price.
Lynn Tomlinson, Crealdé’s Public Art Coordinator and the lead artist on the Hannibal Square Community Mosaic at the Winter Park Community Center, will share her knowledge of mosaic design with construction of a mosaic mural celebrating the arts on the wall next to Crealdé’s entryway.
Students will learn all the steps needed build large scale mosaic projects. We will work directly on the wall, using handmade and broken tiles, mirror, and colored glass. Students are advised to be prepared to work outside and should bring a hat, sun block, and water bottle.
Crealdé will provide bagels and coffee, and a thirty-minute lunch break each day. This class is for all levels.

Friday, 10 am – 4 pm; Cutting and putting up colored glass and mirror strips. Begin tiling. Make stenciled glass tiles.
Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm; Creating Community Mosaics slide show, Finish tiling.
Sunday, 11 am - 4 pm; Mixing colored grout, grouting
