3-hour Digital
Photography Workshops
Only $35 each!
Basic Concepts
will cover photography essentials such as exposure systems,
metering systems and composition as it applies to different
types of photographic situations.
This is a great
opportunity to improve your photography one class at a time.
The workshops will explore your specific camera to introduce
you to menus, file formats, ISO (the digital version of
film-speed) and care of your new digital camera.
Workshop Instructors
Rick Lang, Peter Schreyer or Frank Mardle
Designed to educate students about their specific cameras, these weekly
workshops will provide an overview of menus and usage for better control of your
photographs. Some classes will feature information about
different types of photographic genres such as travel and people photography.
These workshops are offered in conjunction with Colonial Photo & Hobby. You may
register there or at Crealdé.

Learn the basics of digital photography. Topics include
resolution, digital controls, composition, lighting, and lens

Students delve deeper into composition, lighting, flash, and
special equipment. Manipulating images for printing or posting
online are covered. Prereq: Digital Photo I or similar exp.

PH165 Basic Photography
Instructor: TBA; 4-week class begins June 13th.
Saturday, 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Studio 3
For students with a fully automatic 35mm or digital point and
shoot camera. Via presentations, assignments and field trips,
participants are introduced to camera controls, film selection,
and composition.

PH258 Basic Photoshop for Photographers
Instructor: Jon Manchester
Mondays, 7:00–9:00 p.m.
Heritage Center
Learn Photoshop CS2 functions used by most photographers. Topics
include levels, filters, curves, image size, layers and myriad
other functions of the program. Class will be held in our new,
fully-equipped digital classroom with nine work stations and is
limited to nine students. Prereq: Digital Photo II or similar
experience.

PH353 Advanced Photoshop
for Photographers
Instructor: Milton Heiberg
Tuesday, 7:00–9:00 p.m.
Heritage Center
This class will be a continuation of the basic class. Students
will learn how to use bridges, and manipulate raw files.
Students will also learn about creating special effects using
channels, filters, and layers. Held in the new Digital Darkroom;
class size limited to nine. Prereq: Basic Photoshop for
Photographers.

PH142 Intro to Film Photography
Instructor: Jon Manchester
Thursday, 7:30–9:30 p.m.
Studio 5
Gain a thorough understanding of all 35mm SLR camera controls,
exposure, basic composition, depth of field, film, equipment
(lenses, zooms, flashes) and the importance of light. No camera
is needed until the third class. Ideal for students with newer
Program SLR cameras and older manual models.

PH239 Intermediate Film Photography

An introduction to black-&-white photography including
processing and printing. Through assignments and supervised
darkroom time, familiarize yourself with film, chemistry, paper
and filters. Prereq: Cont. Film or similar exp.

PH241 Photography III
Instructor: Peter Schreyer
Monday, 7:00–9:00 p.m.
Heritage Center
Landscape, portrait and documentary photography themes are
examined through lectures, slide presentations, assignments,
critiques and field trips. A special session and field trip on
night photography are also featured. Designed for the visual and
photographic growth of intermediate level students working in
color or black and white, film or digital.

PH243 Basic Portraiture
with Rick Lang
Thursday, 7:45–9:45 p.m.
Studio 3
Basic lighting and posing techniques and the use of flash and
natural light are covered. Focus is on defining the photographic
portrait to reveal a subject’s unique personality. Students can
work in black and white or color. Prereq: Photo II or similar
experience.

PH253 The Natural Landscape
Instructor: Milton Heiberg

Studio 5
Learn to use timing, weather prediction, composition, equipment,
and exposure to create outstanding landscape photos. Two
Saturday field trips and six classroom critiques/lectures. Bring
three slides or prints of any subject to first class.
