Over 10,000 years ago humans started using clay to create. Jugs, bowls, baskets,
platters, teapots, jewelry, tablets, statues, tiles, buildings―these have all
been born from clay, a legacy of civilization. Use traditional coil, pinch and
slab techniques to continue that legacy, creating vessels which harken back to
ancient times. Suitable for all levels.

TD174 Handbuilding w/Found Objects

This class will use the basic handbuilding techniques of coil, pinch and slab to

TD129 Bronze Casting

An introduction to creating small bronze sculptures. You will create
small waxes and learn the basics in the art of lost wax casting techniques. Each
student will be given five pounds of bronze and will be responsible for
finishing their own art work. Students pay $30 for each extra pound cast.

Study old textile techniques developed in Asia; traditional stitch (used on
Chinese costume making) will be taught to create modern design. Hand spinning
will give participants a chance to make unique thread samples. Learn how Korean
wrapping cloth is made. Triple stitch and traditional starching will be
explained. Basic sewing skills needed.

Learn the basics of papermaking: make pulp from recycled paper with onionskins,
rose petals, clover, sewing scraps, etc. Mold and deckle will be used to make

or cards and envelopes. No experience is required; just imagination and a
creative mind.

A pottery technique of hand-painting colored stains onto a white
glaze so the colors fuse into the surface when fired, Majolica
produces a colorful work of art. Learn glazes and stains,

casting. Explore traditional and new casting methods; many

Learn various methods of making molds with alginate, plaster and
Fleximold wax. Prepare molds for casting hands, faces and feet.
