Summer ArtCamp 2010 Schedule
Note: A signature is required for Art Camp, by mail, fax, or in person. 

Kindergarten - Grade 2                                             Members $170  * Non-Members $190

One week of half-days filled with painting, sculpture and ceramic projects. Children must have completed kindergarten. Students take three classes a day in sculpture, clay art, painting, and drawing with a 10-minute break between each class. For more info see above.

Session 1: June 14–18, 9:00 to 11:45 a.m.
Session 2: June 14–18, 1:00 to 3:45 p.m.
(Choose morning or afternoon sessions).

Grades 3–8                                                  Members $380  * Non-Members $400
Two-week sessions for grades 3-8 are whole days that include classes in painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics and sculpture. For more information see above. Camp meets Monday through Thursday only. Young artists who have completed 3rd grade and up are welcome to participate. Supervision provided until 5 p.m.

Session 5: July 5–8, & July 12–15, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Crealdé’s Advanced Art Studio program gives students the opportunity to concentrate on one medium exclusively for one week. The program is based on the nationally-recognized Advanced Placement Studio Art Program. Teens that have completed 8th grade and up are welcome to participate.

Painting & Drawing
Four days, June 14–17, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Heritage Center.
Immerse yourself in acrylics and watercolor for a week as you learn paint handling and color mixing, as well as traditional and experimental approaches to painting.

Traditional Film Photography
Five days, June 14–18, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Studio 5.
Using Crealdé’s 35 mm cameras and our professional darkroom, explore ways to employ composition, light, balance, rhythm, and proportion to make interesting photographs. You develop and print your own negatives and discover alternative methods of photography.




 


Wheelthrowing
Five days, June 14–18, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Studio 4.
Take a lump of clay and learn to center, stretch and manipulate until a pot emerges. Explore decorating and glazing techniques to create pottery to keep and to share. Repeated sessions will expand your skills. Bring an old towel and come play in the mud!

Handbuilding with Clay
Five days, June 14–18, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Studio 4.
Use handbuilding techniques with clay to create inventive and imaginative art. Focus on sculptural design, form and texture with pinch, coil, and slab methods. Finish the pieces with glaze to make them safe to use and last forever.

Digital Photography
Four days, June 21–24, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Heritage Center.

Using Crealdé’s digital SLR cameras and our state-of-the-art digital classroom at the Heritage Center, you will learn the ins-and-outs of digital photography and explore photographic basics of composition, light, balance, rhythm, and proportion to make interesting photographs of your world.

Summer Saturdays                                          June 15–August 1. Classes will not meet July 4.
Six-week classes in a variety of mediums, all taught by professional artists, and all supplies are included.

YAP401 Cameras, Film, Darkroom!

A hands-on course that gives you the chance to explore photography like the pros by learning to use 35mm cameras, process the film and see your images magically appear in an authentic darkroom. All these new techniques can be applied to your digital photography too! Some 35mm cameras are available for student use. $110 Members • $130 Non-members

Long ago, the ancients created masks to use for rituals, to honor the dead, to invoke the gods, to disguise themselves, to have fun. Learn the basic elements of 3-D design with emphasis on form, line, texture and light. Instruction is geared to your ability, and introduces you to professional sculpture methods, tools, and techniques. $140 Members • $160 Non-members
