Crealdé is the home of Central Florida’s Original ArtCamp, where students spend the summer exploring a variety of art media and techniques. The one- or two-week ArtCamp experiences take place on our picturesque waterside campus. Crealdé’s focus is always to provide students with a fun and creative learning experience. Class size is limited to 13 students! The summer will conclude with an ArtCamp Exhibition from August 16 to September 13.
Classes are taught by professional artists in real art studios in the following mediums:
 

Painting and Drawing: Work with a variety of drawing and painting materials to learn the essentials including line, color, texture, shape, composition, and perspective.
Ceramics: Create hand-built clay works of art using slab, coil, and pinching methods. Finish the pieces by decorating the surfaces with glaze to make them last forever.
Photography: Using Crealde’s 35mm cameras, learn to compose a photograph, process film, print photographs and much more using the school’s professional darkroom.
Printmaking: Prints are works of art that can be produced in multiple impressions, each an original. Learn a variety of printmaking techniques, including some that use Crealde’s printmaking press!
Sculpture: Use everyday objects, wood, Styrofoam, and more to develop new skills and explore new ways to construct three-dimensional art.

Children must have completed kindergarten. One week of half-days filled with painting, sculpture and ceramic projects. Students participate in three classes a day with a 10-minute break between each class.
$160 for Crealdé members, $180 for non-members.

Sunday, July 27, 1-4:00 p.m.  plus one day for glazing, to be decided in class.

Create grimacing gargoyles to guard your garden or porch from menacing marauders. Directions are clear so younger children and inexperienced adults can create masterpieces during this workshop.

Sessions are whole days that include classes in painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics and sculpture.


Two-week camps meet Mondays through Thursdays.

Advanced Art Studio for Ages 13 up               Members $210 *  Non-Members $230

Gives students the opportunity to concentrate on one medium exclusively for a full week. Teens who have completed 8th grade and up are welcome to participate. Advanced Art Studio meets Monday through Friday.

Session 3: June 9–13 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

Photography: Using Crealdé’s 35 mm cameras and our professional darkroom, explore ways to use composition, light, balance, rhythm, and proportion to make interesting and exciting photographs. Develop and print your own negatives and discover alternative methods of photography.

Painting: Immerse yourself in acrylics and watercolor for a week as you learn paint handling and color mixing, as well as traditional and experimental approaches to painting.

Ceramics, Handbuilding with clay: Use handbuilding techniques with clay to create inventive and imaginative art. Focus on sculptural design, form and texture with pinch, coil, and slab methods. Finish the pieces with glaze to make them safe to use and last forever.

Do you like to draw and paint? In this class we explore many different ways to make art and even learn about some famous artists. Use pastels, paints, watercolors and other materials to make all kinds of art. What do you need for inspiration? Just your imagination! Must have completed kindergarten.

Watery World: Explore in Clay Ages 5-8      YAP102

Out beyond the breaking ocean waves, down in the briny deep, lies the hidden world of the fishes. There where the saltwater flows, sharks swim, dolphins dive, crustaceans crawl and squids squirt. With a handful of clay and a dash of imagination, we will create our own versions of sea creatures this session. Join us, no diving suits necessary!

Seas of Life: A Clay Expedition Ages 8-13      YAP204

From the kelp beds of the Pacific Northwest to the coral reefs of the tropics, from the krill swarms of the Antarctic to the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, the oceans of our world teem with life. Join us this summer in the studio as we fashion clay into denizens of the deep. No danger of sharks, no sea snakes to avoid… just fun with clay to be had by all!

Creativity allows us to explore the realms of our imaginations. This class will introduce students to the wonders of three-dimensional art. Here, young artists discover the vastness of mediums including wood, metal, clay, and plaster.

Build your own pinhole camera! Decorate it, personalize it and take pictures with it. Learn how to make your own negatives and print your own pictures in Crealdé’s darkroom, from a camera you made from an oatmeal box!

plus one day for glazing to be decided in class. Bring your favorite adult to the clay studio to design and create a special gargoyle to guard your garden or home for years to come. Horns, big ears, beady eyes, or a long tail? The details are up to you. No special skills necessary, just imagination.
